Key Features of Snapdragon Ride Pilot Snapdragon Ride Pilot offers a comprehensive suite of automated driving features, including: Hands-Free, Eyes-On Highway Driving: The system enables hands-free, eyes-on automated highway driving at speeds up to 85 mph. It intelligently moderates speed and manages lane changes on approved highway networks, providing drivers with a significantly enhanced highway driving experience. Complex Urban Navigation: Beyond highways, Snapdragon Ride Pilot excels in complicated low-speed urban driving scenarios. It can adeptly navigate intersections, yield the right of way, and manage stop-and-go traffic, effectively transforming the daily urban commute. Regardless of the vehicle’s cost or complexity, driver-assistance features typically rely on two core components: Perception Layer: Consisting of sensors and software, this layer acts as the vehicle’s “eyes” and “brain,” gathering information about the surrounding environment. Vehicle Control Layer: This layer serves as the “hands and feet” of the system, executing driving maneuvers based on the perception layer’s input. As Anshuman Saxena, Vice President and Head of ADAS/Autonomous Driving Products at Qualcomm Technologies, explains: “Snapdragon Ride Pilot provides a complete software stack that’s vertically integrated and optimized for these two layers to work together for the best experience, and the ability to scale up and down with the complete solution.” This holistic approach significantly reduces design and engineering workloads, accelerates time-to-market for automakers, and streamlines future updates to Snapdragon Ride Pilot. Seamless Integration with the Snapdragon Digital Chassis A key advantage of Snapdragon Ride Pilot is its seamless integration with other platforms within the Snapdragon Digital Chassis family. This integration allows automakers to create intelligent, highly personalized in-car experiences using information from both the vehicle’s digital cockpit and driver-assistance systems. By utilizing a unified compute platform with a common software architecture, manufacturers can scale high-performance, safe, and engaging customer experiences across their entire vehicle portfolio. Under the Hood: The Technology Powering Snapdragon Ride Pilot Automated driving technology demands continuous improvement to handle the almost infinite number of unique scenarios encountered on the road.
