Satara:

A reckless incident has emerged from Maharashtra wherein a woman traffic cop was dragged for over 100 metres by an auto driven by a drunk man.

Policewoman Bhagyashree Jadhav was on duty at a crossing in Satara city when she had asked the auto to stop for checking. Fearing that he would be penalised for driving under the influence, auto driver Devraj Kale refused to stop and tried to escape.

The auto dragged the policewoman along for 120 metres as she clung to it, showed disturbing visuals captured on CCTV cameras. It eventually came to a halt as passersby swung into action and blocked its way. They also thrashed Kale and rescued the cop. The driver was later arrested by the police.

Ms Jadhav was injured in the incident and is undergoing treatment at a private hospital.

QUEENS โ€” The Long Island woman accused of killing an NYPD officer while driving drunk admitted to detectives she had been drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana before the crash, and went on anti-police rant during a podcast she livestreamed just hours prior.

Officer Anastasios Tsakos, a 14-year NYPD veteran, was killed in the crash early Tuesday. Police said Beauvais struck Tsakos, 43, with her vehicle on the Long Island Expressway as he was diverting traffic away from a separate fatal crash.

Outside the courthouse, Jessica Beauvais, 32, told reporters she was sorry.

โ€œSheโ€™s genuine in that she apologized for the fact that she was caught,โ€ said Patrick Lynch, president of the Police Benevolent Association.

In the livestreamed video, Beauvais was seen downing shots and vaping. She also made disparaging comments about police regarding recent police shootings.

โ€œWeโ€™re not scared of the policeโ€ฆWe want you to know we donโ€™t give a fโ€” about you, your mom or your children or wife. Youโ€™re nothing,โ€ she says in the video.

During her arraignment Tuesday night, prosecutors said Beauvais admitted that she had smoked a joint, took two shots of tequila and drank wine as she livestreamed.

Outside the courthouse, the suspectโ€™s family members didnโ€™t speak to the media, but broke down in tears as they walked away.

โ€œShe admitted that she didnโ€™t know where she was going, what she was doing, but still got in her car and used GPS as if it was automatic pilot,โ€ said Lynch.

Tsakos leaves behind a wife and two young children, ages 3 and 6.

โ€œThey said goodbye on their stoop today; little did they know that was the last time,โ€ Lynch said.

Beauvais was remanded; she faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted.

LAKE WORTH, Texas (TND) โ€” Texas authorities have released a video showing the aftermath of a fatal crash in Nov. 2021 that was caused by a drunk driver.

The video shows a good Samaritan chasing down and tackling the drunk driver responsible, 26-year-old Dylan Molina.

Molina was drunkenly driving at high speeds when he ran a red light and crashed his rental Jeep into another vehicle in Fort Worth, Texas, according to several police reports on the incident from the Lake Worth Police Department.

An off-duty police detective,Euless Police Department’sAlex Cervantes, was in the vehicle struck by Molina, police say, adding that Cervantes died at the scene.

Cervantes’s wife and two children were also in the vehicle and escaped with their lives, but were still injured, according to authorities.

The wife and children were stuck in their vehicle as a result of the crash, but several nearby people worked together to free them, which can be seen in a video provided by police.

Molina was caught on video attempting to flee the scene on foot. He stumbles and falls while attempting his escape and is quickly physically restrained by another person, the good Samaritan, who curses and screams at Molina.

You stay right there, motherf***er! You see what you did?!” the good Samaritan screams at Molina as he pushes the drunk driver into the ground, restraining him. “You f***ing killed somebody, you motherf***er!”

Molina pleaded guilty tointoxication manslaughter and was sentenced to 15 years in prison, police said in a press release.

At the time of the fatal crash, Molina’s blood alcohol concentration was at 0.16 g/dL, according to a toxicology report. That’s double the legal limit in Texas, police note in a release. Molina’s toxicology report also confirmed that he had Delta-9 THC, an active ingredient in marijuana, in his system, police say.

A local bartender,Cala Richardson, has been arrested for allegedly over-serving alcohol to Molina before the crash occurred, authorities note.

Richardson is accused of serving Molina eight double vodka Red Bull cocktails in a timespan of under three hours.

Surveillance video also released by Texas police allegedly confirms that Molina was served and drank all of that alcohol on the same day of the crash.

Eight doubles, 16 single shots, is more than anybody should have in a three-hour period. Maybe even at all, Lake Worth Police Chief J.T. Manoushagian told KDFW News.“Clearly, not in a good place to be operating a vehicle. Clearly intoxicated. Heโ€™s holding another one of those double vodka and Red Bull drinks there, and then he simply walks away.”

Itโ€™s not gonna bring Alex back, but at least heโ€™s locked behind bars and not able to hurt another family like he did ours,”Detective Cervantes’s wife,Priscilla, told KDFW News.

Oscar-winning star ‘deeply embarrassed’ after accosting officer during husband’s arrest for drink driving

Reese Witherspoon said she is “deeply embarrassed” about what she said to officers when she and her husband were arrested by traffic police in the US.

“Do you know my name?” Witherspoon is quoted as asking the state trooper who stopped the couple in Atlanta. She also said: “You’re about to find out who I am”, and: “You’re about to be on national news,” according to the arrest report.

The 37-year-old actor was arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct after a state trooper said she wouldn not stay in the car while her husband, Hollywood agent Jim Toth, was given the “walk-and-turn” US field sobriety test. Toth was arrested early on Friday for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Witherspoon was released from jail after the arrest and was in New York on Sunday night for the premiere of her new film, Mud.

The Oscar-winner released a statement late on Sunday apologising for her behaviour to police. “I clearly had one drink too many and I am deeply embarrassed about the things I said. It was definitely a scary situation and I was frightened for my husband, but that is no excuse. I was disrespectful to the officer who was just doing his job. I have nothing but respect for the police and I’m very sorry for my behaviour.”

Witherspoon said she could not comment further “out of respect” for the pending case.

News of the arrest broke shortly before Witherspoon arrived on the Mud red carpet. She posed for photographs but did not stop to talk to reporters.

According to the arrest report, the trooper noticed Toth’s car was not staying in its lane early Friday morning, so he initiated a traffic stop. He reported that Toth had droopy eyelids and watery, bloodshot eyes, and his breath smelled strongly of alcohol.

Toth told the trooper he had had a drink, which Witherspoon said was consumed at a restaurant two hours before the traffic stop, the trooper wrote.

Before the field sobriety test began, Witherspoon got out of the car, was told to get back in and obeyed, the report said. After the Walk the Line star got out a second time, the trooper said he warned her that she would be arrested if she left the car again.

As the test continued, “Mrs Witherspoon began to hang out the window and say that she did not believe that I was a real police officer. I told Mrs Witherspoon to sit on her butt and be quiet,” Trooper First Class J Pyland wrote.

Toth, 42, was then arrested. He was charged with driving under the influence and failure to maintain the lane.

At that point, the arrest report says, Witherspoon got out and asked the trooper what was going on. After being told to return to the car, she “stated that she was a ‘US Citizen’ and that she was allowed to ‘stand on American ground’,” the report says.

The trooper then began to arrest Witherspoon. The report says Witherspoon was resistant at first but was calmed down by her husband. Toth and Witherspoon were then taken to jail.
