WASHINGTON (TNND) — Vice President J.D. Vance pushed back on Minnesota Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar for saying ICE operations are just about rigging elections.

“ICE will leave Minnesota if you hand over your voter rolls” tells you everything you need to know,” Omar wrote on the social media platform, X on Monday.

“This was never about immigration or fraud. It was always about rigging elections.”

Earlier this week, it was reported that Attorney General Pam Bondi demanded that Minnesota give over voter registration records amid the tension with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) being in the city.

Over the weekend, Bondi pressed Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz to “bring an end to the chaos” by giving over the records, according to CNN.

This comes after reports of fraud in the state, specifically the misuse of taxpayer funds.

Vance pushed back on Omar’s statement, implying she wanted illegal migrants to vote in Minnesota elections.

“We really want illegal aliens to vote in elections and will riot to ensure that it is so,” Vance wrote on X in response to Omar.

Minnesota has been in the news for the past few weeks as immigration enforcement operations have been taking place.

Ilhan Omar to huddle with constituents in Minneapolis as chaos engulfs city

WASHINGTON — “Squad” Rep. Ilhan Omar is planning to hold her first in-person town hall of the year in Minneapolis later Tuesday, as chaos grips the city and she faces deepening scrutiny over her finances.

Omar (D-Minn.) has been a fierce critic of ICE’s sweeping Operation Metro Surge across Minneapolis and her town hall comes on the heels of President Trump’s revelation that she is under investigation.

“Congresswoman Omar will provide an update on her work in Congress, discuss the services her office can provide, and answer your questions,” an announcement for the town hall explained.

The bedlam gripping the city is expected to dominate the town hall.

The Trump administration began sending immigration enforcement officers to the city last month in response to revelations about rampant welfare fraud in Minnesota.

Local protests quickly sprang up in response, followed by fatal encounters with law enforcement that catalyzed unrest. On Jan. 7, an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer shot Renee Good, 37, after she accelerated her SUV in his direction.

Then on Saturday, Border Patrol agents fatally shot ICU nurse Alex Pretti, also 37, who had already been pinned to the ground.

That prompted Trump to recalibrate his approach to Minneapolis, opting to send border czar Tom Homan to Minnesota to coordinate operations there. Some 3,000 immigration enforcement officers are in Minneapolis, compared to its roughly 600-member police force, according to Mayor Jacob Frey.

Trump also had calls with Democrats Frey and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.

On Monday, the president also lashed out at Omar, revealing that she is facing investigation.

“The DOJ and Congress are looking at ‘Congresswoman’ Ilhan Omar, who left Somalia with NOTHING,” Trump posted on Truth Social Monday. “Time will tell all.”

The Post previously reported that House Republicans are scrutinizing how Omar’s net worth appeared to soar dramatically over recent years.

Omar, who represents Minneapolis, shot back: “Years of ‘investigations’ have found nothing.”

Notably, it’s not just the Trump administration and Republicans in Congress who have questioned Omar’s finances. The Biden administration’s Justice Department also looked into the congresswoman in 2024, the New York Times reported.

That probe revolved around her campaign spending and engagements with a foreign citizen, but seemingly stalled, according to the outlet.

Questions have swirled recently over how Omar’s net worth grew to as much as $30 million within a relatively short period, though precise numbers are not provided in House financial disclosures.103

The surge in wealth largely comes from her husband, whose Rose Lake Capital’s value shot up from close to zero in 2023 to between $5 million and $25 million, according to previous Post reporting

Additionally, his winery business saw its valuation rocket to between $1 million and $5 million in 2024.
