DOYLESTOWN, PA—Police are asking for the public’s help in finding a woman they say is a serial shoplifter who hit the Doylestown Target twice in June.

The Central Bucks Regional Police Department said the woman, pictured above, shoplifted more than $100 of merchandise from the Doylestown Target on June 19. They said she also stole about $50 of merchandise on June 8.

Ramerio Main is facing numerous charges, from allegedly assaulting a police officer to fleeing and eluding.

It all started with a search for a “serial shoplifter” that had police in more than a half-dozen local cities trying to track down the thief targeting one store brand.

Police said Main has been “running” from them for two weeks, so it’s no surprise his many arrest affidavits show he’s allegedly been targeting high-end Nike and other brand shoes at Bealls retail clothing stores across the region. In fact, New Smyrna Beach police say he targeted a store on 3rd Avenue three times.

Last week, an officer spotted Main and attempted to pull his car over.

He was charged with aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer.

When he showed up at a Bealls in Orange City on Monday, store employees called police, who arrested him.

Detectives said they have surveillance video from the stores that shows that every time Main would come outside with boxes in his arms, he would walk to a vehicle in which the trunk was popped open, and a woman was behind the wheel. He’d allegedly throw the boxes in, jump in the passenger seat and the pair would take off.

Jamie Lynn Robert is the registered owner of what police call the getaway car, and was arrested on outstanding warrants unrelated to the case.

The sedan, they say, shows up in multiple thefts.

But with detectives reviewing evidence from stores in New Smyrna Beach, Orange City, Port Orange, Daytona Beach, Edgewater, Palm Coast and Leesburg, they said they expect to connect Main and Robert to some of the same crimes.

Main is being held under no bond on an outstanding warrant from Missouri.

Main will have a first appearance at the Volusia County Jail on Wednesday in connection with the Daytona Beach thefts.

A prolific shoplifter got a nasty surprise when he fled a store and ran into the arms of police officers.

Kirk Wharton was detained by Operation Reacher officers after trying to flee a Co-Op store on 15 August.

A court heard how officers were already at the store, on Mansfield Road, Sherwood, as part of an investigation into a spate of shop thefts.

One of the officers was inside the CCTV office when staff informed her that Wharton, the prime suspect in the case, had just entered the store.

The officer alerted two colleagues who were in an unmarked police outside, before going onto the shop floor to apprehend the 33-year-old.

Upon seeing the officer, Wharton tried to flee the store but was detained at the entrance by the two other officers, who arrived quickly to apprehend him.

Wharton, of no fixed address, was subsequently charged with 25 shop thefts, totalling about £2,250 in value.

Nottingham Crown Court heard the charges relate to a string of thefts committed by Wharton at Co-Op stores in Mansfield Road, Sherwood, and Beckhamton Road, Bestwood, between June 18 and August 8.

He was further charged with breaching a community rehabilitation order after he missed a string of drug rehabilitation and probation appointments.

Prosecutors said Wharton was a prolific shoplifter who stole products including meat, cheese and fish alongside other fridge items to help fund his drug addiction.

Following his arrest, he was remanded into custody and went on to plead guilty to all 26 counts on the indictment.

PC Phoebe Lau, of the city centre Operation Reacher team, which carried out the investigation and made the arrest, said: “Wharton is a prolific shoplifter who has persistently shown a complete contempt for the law.

“As we often hear in cases of persistent shoplifting, it appears his offending escalated as a direct consequence of his drug addiction.

“This was why he was placed on a community rehabilitation programme when he was last before the courts.

“Such schemes are designed to help offenders turn their lives around but, very frustratingly, Wharton refused that support.

“He refused to engage with the drug rehabilitation programme and must now face the consequences.”
