A woman who bought a “creepy” cat statue captured the moment her own pet cat met the new member of the family for the first time, with unexpected results.
The woman, 32 and from Texas, who goes by Kitty, recently lost her cat, Mia, who she described to Newsweek as a “once in a lifetime cat.”
“She was affectionate, friendly, confident and all she wanted was to live in your skin,” she said.
As Mia recently passed away, Kitty found herself looking through old photos and videos of the gorgeous tortoiseshell cat, and rediscovered one from 11 years ago—which she decided to share with people on TikTok.
At the time, Kitty had found a bizarre-looking cat lawn ornament at a department store, which she aptly named “SpookyCat,” and “stuck googly eyes on it cause it has dead eyes.”
After taking SpookyCat home, she called Mia into the room to see what she would make of it—and as she put it to Newsweek, “I did not think she would react like that.”
In the video, posted to Kitty’s TikTok @ifight4rumplegoocher on August 9 and described in a caption as “Mia meeting the stupidest purchase I’ve ever made,” Kitty first shows off the hunched-over lawn ornament, complete with googly eyes.

And as she calls Mia, the cat instantly comes running—only to freeze stock-still, in the same hunched-over position as the lawn ornament. Kitty starts giggling, as Mia remains frozen, not moving a muscle, her ears flat on her head and rump stuck up into the sky.

Kitty moves to show Mia’s face as the cat begins flicking her tail in frustration, showing Mia’s face, which is wide-eyed, her pupils dilated.
She finishes the video by showing Mia that SpookyCat isn’t real, and apologizing: “I’m sorry, I’m done.”
Mia showed classic cat body language signs that she was not happy: eyes open with wide pupils, lip licking, puffed up fur, flattened back ears and slow, guarded movement are all signs of a stressed cat, according to Cats Protection.
However, Kitty told Newsweek: “I figured she’d be concerned or curious. It was so unexpected. She never reacted like that to anything before or after!”

And as some people in the comments complained it was cruel to do this, and that Mia was clearly stressed out, Kitty added in the caption that she did “not expect her to react this intensely.”
“I promise you I didn’t torment her or do this regularly,” she wrote, adding that Mia was “very deeply loved and lived a good life.”
Kitty’s video exploded in popularity, racking up more than 4.4 million viewed and close to 1 million likes, as one described it as “the cat equivalent of us meeting a wendigo pretty much.”
Another joked: “Congrats! Now you have two cat statues,” while one laughed at Mia’s “immediate pause.”
And one, sharing their condolences after Mia’s death, wrote: “She brought joy to many with this vid. It was a precious moment captured.”
Nicki Minaj’s instant regret after calling JD Vance ‘assassin’ to Erika Kirk
23 December 2025 – 08:34AM
Nicki Minaj caused a stir at AmericaFest after referring to US Vice President JD Vance as an “assassin” during an on-stage appearance with Erika Kirk. Erika Kirk is the widow of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated in September during an outdoor Turning Point USA event in Utah. Minaj was a surprise guest at the Turning Point USA conference, founded by Kirk to mobilise young conservative voters. Asked about her message to young men, Minaj praised President Donald Trump and JD Vance as “amazing role models”. She called Trump “our handsome, dashing president” before stumbling over her words and stopping herself mid-sentence as she referred to Vance as an “assassin”. “Dear young men, you have amazing role models like our handsome, dashing president. And you have amazing role models like the assassin JD Vance, our vice president,” the rapper said before catching herself. The remark prompted laughter from Erika Kirk, who quickly brushed it off and reassured Minaj. “Trust me, there’s nothing new under the sun that I have not heard, so you’re fine,” Kirk said. Minaj smiled and leant forward as the moment passed, and the conversation moved on.

When it comes to welcoming new siblings, things can typically go of two ways. Either, the proud big brother or sister will welcome the new baby with open arms, or they will decide that they’ve preferred being an only child.
One little boy has the best possible reaction to meeting his new brother, offering up a mix of both reactions. The unexpected moment was caught on camera, giving us all a chance to watch this rollercoaster of emotions unfold. Take a look and see if you can understand where this little dude was coming from.
Things started off super sweet for TikToker savvymomlife, as she got to watch her two little guys meet for the first time.
But the big brother’s aw moment quickly turned to an aw shucks one, as his little brother let loose one of those stereotypical baby howls.
“He changed his mind real quick,” mom wrote alongside a laugh/cry emoji.
Savvymomlife’s followers couldn’t help but find the humor in the moment as well, and they offered words of encouragement to the newly minted big brother, telling him what a great job he did. “And he was so gentle,” one person wrote.
While it looks like these two didn’t initially hit it off, the mother-of-two has shared other videos of her little ones since then, and it looks like they’re thick as thieves now that they’ve had a little while to get to know one another. Phew!

How To Introduce a New Sibling
According to the Child Mind Institute, it can be hard to introduce a young toddler to their new sibling, because they may not quite understand what’s going on.
Sometimes that can cause some behavioral issues, which the website says can include things like regression, jealousy, and more. To avoid these potential problems, they recommend doing a lot of prep work with your little one before the new bundle of joy arrives.
That could mean reading picture books about becoming a big brother or big sister, or even little them get involved with helping set up the nursery. Then, once the baby arrives, it’s important to still carve out some one-on-one time with your oldest, so they don’t feel completely replaced by the new little one.
Don’t Reinforce Bad Behavior
One thing that is especially important during this time, is keeping your kiddo from thinking the only way to get attention is by acting out. That means you don’t want to reward your older child with more attention every time they do something to get in trouble.

Instead, you should focus on rewarding the good behavior that you want to see, when you see it. That may mean giving them extra playtime, more one-on-one time, or even offering them something special as a “thank you” for being so kind during this transition.
In the end, most siblings will end up getting along eventually, even if their initial meeting gets off to as rocky of a start as the one the OP posted about.View comments

There are so many “holidays” to celebrate over this weekend: There’s National Milk Day, National Houseplant Appreciation Day and National Take the Stairs Day, to name a few, but what really caught our eye is No Longer New Year’s Day, which is today, and marks the point at which we can stop saying “Happy New Year.” Something about that particular threshold makes us feel like we’re really, finally living in 2026 and can get back down to business — you know, like the business of snagging this weekend’s best deals at Amazon.

And nothing makes you feel like you’re getting on with your life like setting and forgetting the robovac you just scored for a ridiculous 40% off (i.e., $90).
