A Clarkson woman who threw her dog to its death from the second storey of a shopping centre carpark — and then confessed to it on Facebook — has been jailed for a year over the “callous and extremely confronting display of animal cruelty”.

Amy Lea Judge, 26, threw her female Maltese Shih-Tzu named Princess off the 9m-high second-storey carpark at Westfield Whitford City in April last year in an act of animal cruelty that shocked and disgusted the community.

A passer-by rushed the dog to a vet, where it was found she had internal haemorrhaging, a brain injury and spinal and pelvic trauma. Princess was put down.

After pleading guilty to the shocking crime in Midland Magistrates Court, Judge was on Tuesday sent to prison for a year.

She was jailed for 10 months prison for the animal cruelty charge and two months for other unrelated matters.

She was also banned from owning an animal for a decade.

In an extremely confronting CCTV released by RSPCA WA on Tuesday, Judge approached the ledge on several occasions with the dog threatening to throw it off during what appeared to be an argument with her partner.

She eventually then launched the helpless animal over the edge.

Magistrate Mark Millington said the offender had left Princess for dead in what he described as a “planned, deliberate and intentional act”.

According to RSPCA WA, Judge confessed to the cruel act on Facebook, saying she couldn’t “live with the guilt”.

Judge was also found to have displayed a lack of remorse, blamed others and made excuses for her behaviour.

According to RSPCA WA, Judge confessed to the cruel act on Facebook, saying she couldn’t “live with the guilt”.

“I can’t live with the guilt. I threw my dog off the top story of a shopping centre carpark and watched her fall to her death, but she survived and needed to be put down due to how badly I injured her, all the damage I caused,” she wrote.

“I killed my dog. I need the truth out in the open it’s … tearing me apart I can’t live with the guilt anymore.”

But Judge later deleted the post and told an RSPCA WA inspector her account had been hacked.

RSPCA WA inspector manager Kylie Green said the CCTV vision of the incident, which lasted about eight minutes, also showed Judge repeatedly dangling Princess over the side of the carpark and allowing her to walk along the roof edge.

“This case was one of the most distressing I’ve seen in my 11 years as an inspector and was a callous and extremely confronting display of animal cruelty,” she said.

“Dogs can be so trusting, and they rely on their owners to keep them safe. I can’t think of a more disgusting betrayal of that trust.

Amy Lea Judge, 26, returned to Joondalup Magistrates Court on Friday, after she first appeared on August 4, charged with ill-treatment of her dog named Princess.

“Today’s outcome delivers some justice for the pain and terror poor Princess endured in her final hours.

“I hope it also sends a clear message to the community that intentional cruelty towards animals is extremely serious and won’t be tolerated.’

Earlier this year, Judge’s 23-year-old partner, from Madeley, who was present during the incident, was fined $2500 and banned from owning animals for three years for failing to seek vet care for the dog.

Judge was made eligible for parole.

WASHINGTON (7News) — Just hours after D.C. Police announced the arrests of four adults and three teens in the theft of a dog named Pablo and a number of other related crimes, 7News has learned that the U.S. Attorney’s Office has decided not to file any charges. The four adults were released after a court appearance. No explanation was offered.

It’s possible some charge, or charges, could be brought later, 7News D.C. Bureau Chief Sam Ford said. The teens are being prosecuted separately by the D.C. attorney general’s office.

One of the teens, a 15-year-old from Lanham, Maryland, was also charged for three carjackings.

At a press conference earlier Friday, when the arrests were announced, MPD assistant chief Morgan Kane said the District has experienced its biggest increase in crime in the last 30 days.

Citywide robberies are up 58%, and carjackings are up 47%, compared to the same time last year, Kane said.

Police detailed how detectives located the suspects involved in the dognapping, as well as a one-hour crime spree they say took place during broad daylight on Wednesday, April 13.

“To commit these crimes in broad daylight is unacceptable,” Kane said. “It is such a danger to the community. It’s frustrating to see people intrude so carelessly among people just living their lives. We really need to get those funded,” Kane said of increased police officers in the District. “We cannot tolerate this type of activity in our city, much less during the day.”0.25×0.5xnormal1.5x2x

One Hour Crime Spree

In the first case, a dog owner was walking his dog around 3:45 p.m. in the 5400 block of Kansas Avenue, Northwest, when the dog owner was approached by four armed suspects in a car announcing a robbery.

Personal property and a French bulldog named Bruno was stolen.

Forty-five minutes later, in the 2000 block of 8th Street, Northwest, the suspects approached a couple walking their dog, Pablo, an Australian shepherd. Pablo and an i-phone belonging to the owner were stolen.

Ten minutes later, in the 2100 block of 4th Street, Northeast, the occupants in the same vehicle shot two men before fleeing the scene.

Less than 10 minutes later, police said the suspects committed another armed robbery in the 1300 block of 2nd Street, Northeast.

Within an hour, police found the Silver Audi used in the robberies at a nearby residence, police said. Information gathered from that scene led investigators to issue search warrants for a home in the 1200 block of 18th Street on Thursday.

“Our investigators found Pablo the stolen Australian shepherd in the living room,” Kane said of members of the District’s Carjacking Task Force.

During the search, police found not only Pablo, but a 45-caliber pistol and an AR-15 rifle, over 100 rounds of ammunition, drugs, and other evidence, Kane said.

Police said 7 people – four adults and three teens — located inside the residence were arrested for receiving stolen property, Pablo, and other offenses. One of the juveniles, a 15-year-old from Lanham, Maryland, was also charged with three armed carjacking offenses that occurred during a spree the day before on April 12, police said.

Stolen cars are used in crime sprees, police say

The Silver Audi used in the Wednesday crime spree was stolen within recent days, Kane said. That theft was described as a “jump in,” when car owners or delivery drivers leave their vehicles unattended, running, and unlocked.

Kane tied car thefts to increased crime, saying stolen vehicles are being used in crime sprees.

“They’re being used in shootings, so they’re being used in robbery sprees and violent offenses. So that’s why we have to start with something that not may not seem so big, just a stolen car, but it really affects the violence that we experienced in a city.”

The assistant police chief urged drivers to turn off their vehicles and lock their doors.

“At this time, detectives are continuing their efforts to piece together the evidence collected over the last 48 hours in consultation with our prosecutors,” Kane said. “Additional charges may be placed on these offenders.”
