Regardless of a vehicle’s cost or complexity, driver-assistance features typically rely on two fundamental components: a perception layer and a vehicle control layer. The perception layer, consisting of sensors and software, acts as the vehicle’s “eyes” and “brain,” interpreting the surrounding environment. The vehicle control layer serves as the “hands and feet,” executing driving maneuvers based on the information provided by the perception system.
“Snapdragon Ride Pilot provides a complete software stack that’s vertically integrated and optimized for these two layers to work together for the best experience, and the ability to scale up and down with the complete solution,” explained Anshuman Saxena, Vice President and Head of ADAS/Autonomous Driving Products at Qualcomm Technologies. “This holistic approach reduces design and engineering workloads and therefore cost and time to market for automakers.
