Scary Home Invasion Leaves Police with a Choice

Homeowner scares off burglars with gun during home invasion in Jamaica Estates

Anthony Carlo spoke to the homeowner about the scary home invasion in Queens.

JAMAICA ESTATES, Queens (WABC) — A brazen home invasion was caught on security video in Queens, showing a crew break into a house, allegedly looking to steal a luxury car.

What they don’t know is that the homeowner was armed.

The homeowner says home invasions are happening more often in the neighborhood.

“They popped this open and that’s when I realized somebody was breaking in,” the homeowner said.

The burglar barged in through the window in the middle of the night, using a flashlight on their phone to rummage around the kitchen.

“He comes over here, peeks, because he knows I’m yelling from over there,” the homeowner said.

What they thought was an easy job became a burglar’s worst nightmare.

“I’m like I have a gun don’t move,” the homeowner said.

The homeowner had his gun drawn but something happened.

“I pull the trigger and the gun jams. By whatever divine intervention, the gun doesn’t shoot,” the homeowner said.

The burglar ran for their life, quite the opposite from how he and his crew strutted onto the homeowner’s property to break in.

“Both of my cars are in the driveway. My lights turned on as soon as they approached the front gate. And so they knew somebody was home. But they didn’t seem to care,” the homeowner said.

The homeowner said his wife and kids were also home at the time of the home invasion.

He said the burglars apparently wanted his Bentley and were looking for the keyfob before they ran into a gun and ran out of the house.

“The detectives told me. There was a dispatch for three other burglaries. Two of them were successful; they stole another Porsche and a Range Rover,” the homeowner said.

It happened to be the one night he did not activate his home’s alarm system.

He is licensed to conceal carry.

The home invasion in the affluent neighborhood of Jamaica is prompting the Bukharan community to issue an alert to Jewish residents who might be on vacation for Yeshiva.

“If they want to come back let them. This time the gun won’t be jammed. Hopefully, it won’t get there. But I don’t feel like I have a target on my back because everybody here is a target – it’s a collective community,” the homeowner said.

Police are looking for the three suspects involved in the incident.

FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) โ€” Bodycam footage of an officer-involved shooting has been released following a home invasion robbery in Fresno earlier in the year.

The Fresno Police Department says the incident began around 7:20 a.m. on January 26th when officers responded to a burglary in progress at an apartment complex at Backer and Shaw Avenues, near Fresno State.0.25×0.5xnormal1.5x2x

Police reported that three suspects, wearing masks and vests, arrived at the residence, identified themselves as police, and forced entry into an apartment.

Once inside, they attempted to steal a large safe but abandoned it and drove off in their vehicle before officers arrived.

An officer on foot in a nearby parking lot attempted to stop the suspects, who nearly ran the officer over with their vehicle.

The officer fired shots, but it remains unclear how many shots were fired or if the suspects returned fire.

The suspects continued to drive northbound on Shaw Avenue toward the Fresno State Campus.

Police rammed the vehicle to bring it to a stop.

The driver exited the vehicle and ran while officers fired once again.

A K9 officer was deployed, and officers secured the suspect, who was shot and then transported to the hospital for surgery.

The passenger was taken into custody without incident, while police continue to search for a third suspect who ran off before the pursuit began.

Officers also found firearms in the vehicle.

The connection between the suspects and the residence remains unknown.

Three officers were involved in the shooting, and several officers were treated for injuries related to the pursuit.

All officers are expected to recover.

The investigation is ongoing, with findings to be reviewed by the Fresno County District Attorneyโ€™s Office, Internal Affairs, and the Office of Independent Review.

The boy, who was not identified, can be heard on the call telling the 911 operator to โ€œPlease get help,โ€ as the suspected burglars kicked in the back door of his Scottsdale home on Monday.

โ€œThey’re trying to break down the door right nowโ€ฆI can hear them,โ€ the boy says on the call.

โ€œI think they might be inside,โ€ he says, also whispering that he is in a bedroom closet. โ€œPlease send help.โ€

โ€œDoes it still sound like theyโ€™re in the bedroom with you,โ€ the 911 operator asks.

โ€œNo, I think theyโ€™re in the kitchen right now,โ€ the boy responds.

The scary situation turned even more terrifying when the boy came face-to-face with the suspects.
