Caught On Camera: US Man Throws Coffee, Punches Elderly Man Who Made Him Wait At Gas Station

A man in Florida, US, has been arrested and is facing assault charges after he got into a fight with a 76-year-old man at a Shell gas station. A security camera footage of the attack has been released by the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office. In the caption of the clip, the cops said that the “impatient” man was waiting in line when he threw his cup of coffee at the old man in front of him and left.
As per Newsweek, the suspect has been identified as 39-year-old Sean Ruel. The CCTV surveillance footage showed the victim at the checkout, with the suspect standing in line behind him. Moments later, the suspect is then seen apparently losing his temper due to the waiting, following which he threw his cup of coffee toward the victim and left the gas station.

The video then showed the victim following Mr Ruel outside the store to confront him. The old man barely manages a word before the 39-year-old races up to him and knocks him down with a punch to the jaw. The blow sent the old man flying and left him sprawled on the ground.
Just before the clip ends, other people can be seen coming to the aid of the elderly man. A woman can also be seen exiting the gas station and following Mr Ruel.

Newsweek reported that a day after the incident, Mr Ruel was arrested and accused of battery of a senior over 65. Sheriff Rick Staly reportedly said that because Mr Ruel couldn’t control his anger, he battered a senior citizen and is lucky he did not seriously injure him. “We won’t tolerate this kind of behaviour,” Mr Staly added.

Further, the police also informed that Sean Ruel had prior attests, including three instances of driving under the influence in California.

Security camera footage of the attack in a Shell gas station in Palm Coast, Florida, shows the grey-haired victim at the checkout, with the suspect, later identified as Sean Ruel, 39, standing in line behind him.
Ruel can be seen waiting to be served while the 76-year-old man is being seen to by the cashier.
After a few seconds, the suspect can be seen apparently losing his temper at having to wait and he throws his cup of coffee toward the victim, where it lands at the man’s feet, catching his attention.

The suspect then leaves the gas station, with his victim eventually following him outside to confront him, but security camera footage shows he barely manages a word before Ruel races up to him and knocks him down with a punch to the jaw. The blow to the victim sent him flying and left him sprawled on the ground as the footage ends.
Just before the footage cuts out, other people can be seen coming to the aid of the elder, who has not been named, including a man with a white beard who appears to have witnessed the incident and who can be seen helping the victim.
A woman can also be seen exiting the gas station moments before the footage ends.

The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office later identified the suspect as Ruel, who was arrested the next day and accused of battery of a senior over 65.
Sheriff Rick Staly told local media: “Because this guy couldn’t control his anger, he battered a senior citizen and is lucky he did not seriously injure him.”
He added: “Our deputies did a great job to identify, locate and arrest Ruel for what he did to this senior in our community.”
The incident took place May 22, and the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office released the footage on May 27.
“We won’t tolerate this kind of behavior,” Staly said.
The police said that Ruel had prior arrests, including three instances of driving under the influence in California.

PALM COAST, Fla. (CBS12) — A man is caught on camera tossing a cup of coffee at a elderly man before punching him at a gas station in central Florida.
The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office arrested Sean Ruel, 39, on a charge of battery on a person over 65.
Video released by the sheriff’s office shows Ruel waiting in line at a Shell gas station as the 76-year-old victim conducts his business at the counter. After a while, deputies said Ruel walked past the victim and threw his cup of coffee at the victim’s feet before leaving the store.
Once outside, deputies said Ruel confronted the customer and punched him. The elderly man fell to the ground. He suffered minor injuries.0.25×0.5xnormal1.5x2x
