Vice President JD Vance and wife Usha announce they are expecting fourth child

Usha, 40, is expecting a baby boy due to arrive this Summer.

Vice President JD Vance and his wife Usha have officially announced that they are expecting their fourth child together.

The couple shared the news on Instagram on Tuesday January 20, when the revealed that the impending arrival is a baby boy, before adding both mom and baby were ‘doing well.’

“We’re very excited to share the news that Usha is pregnant with our fourth child, a boy. Usha and the baby are doing well, and we are all looking forward to welcoming him in late July,” the Instagram post read.

“During this exciting and hectic time, we are particularly grateful for the military doctors who take excellent care of our family and for the staff members who do so much to ensure that we can serve the country while enjoying a wonderful life with our children.”

The pregnancy marks a historic first for the White House, as it marks the first time ever a second lady has been pregnant while her husband is in office.

Usha is no stranger to firsts however, as she is currently also the youngest woman to serve as second lady in over 75 years, and follows Jane Hadley Barkley, the wife of Harry Truman’s vice president, Alben Barkley, who assumed the role in 1949 at 38 years old.

The new addition to the Vance family also continues to remain on brand for the VP, who has continually talked about the importance of people raising children throughout his political career.

In an infamous interview during the election campaign trail for his Ohio senate seat (which later went viral during Trump’s campaign trail), Vance even branded childless Democrats as ‘a bunch of childless cat ladies’.

Speaking on Fox News at the time, Vance said: “We are effectively run in this country … by a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives and the choices that they’ve made, and so they wanna make the rest of the country miserable, too.

“It’s just a basic fact. You look at Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg, AOC (Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez), the entire future of the Democrats is controlled by people without children.

“And how does it make any sense that we’ve turned our country over to people who don’t really have a direct stake in it?”

He also spoke again about the importance of bringing more children into the world in a 2025 March for Life, this time, admittedly with a more upbeat message for voters.

“Let me say very simply: I want more babies in the United States of America,” he began.

A Secret Service agent has been placed on administrative leave after he allegedly spilled some ‘sensitive’ information about Vice President JD Vance whilst he was on a date with someone undercover.

According to a video clip, which was posted on January 13 by the O’Keefe Media Group, a man who was part of Vance’s detail met up with a journalist, thinking she was an ordinary potential partner.

In the video, he is reportedly seen sitting in a crowded restaurant, as the woman asks him some questions off-screen.

Shockingly, the member of the United States Secret Service and employee of the Department of Homeland Security apparently revealed sensitive information, such as Secret Service shift schedules and the way agents walk when Vance is out in public.

He then goes on to hand his date an identification ‘badge’ to verify his job role.

The woman can be heard saying, ‘can I see your badge again, with your photo’, before telling him, ‘you’re so cute.’

In screenshots allegedly sent from the agent to the journalist, Vance’s travel arrangements, images of the presidential convoy, and more were revealed.

It also reportedly included metadata which could potentially show Vance’s exact location.

In the clip, the man can be heard talking about his political stance, namely, his thoughts on ICE agents.

“I don’t understand why they’re covering their face… I don’t agree with that at all,” he said in regard to the agents wearing balaclavas. “They’re deploying tactics that shouldn’t be deployed.”

The man went on to say that he voted for Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election, and that he doesn’t agree with Donald Trump’s administration’s immigration policies.

Since the clip was released, the US Secret Service has allegedly placed the man on administrative leave, per a statement to PEOPLE.

US Secret Service Deputy Director Matthew Quinn told the outlet: “The U.S. Secret Service has no tolerance for any behavior that could potentially compromise the safety, privacy or trust of our protectees.

“This incident is under investigation and the employee involved has been placed on administrative leave with his clearance suspended and access to agency facilities and systems revoked.”

“The U.S. Secret Service has also issued an order for all personnel to retake the agency’s required anti-espionage training in order to ensure employees are aware of the threats posed by individuals aiming to exploit agency employees for information about our protective operations,” Quinn added.

He shared that the Secret Service ‘has a 160-year-old tradition of discretion that sets this agency apart, and we have no tolerance for employees who fail to meet this standard’.

“The U.S. Secret Service deeply apologizes to the Vance family for this violation of their trust and privacy. The faith our protectees place in this agency is not something the U.S. Secret Service takes lightly, and we are committed to taking the necessary actions to ensure that a similar breach of standards does not occur again,” he concluded.

A man has been charged after allegedly sending threats against Vice President JD Vance during a family trip to Disneyland last year.

Marco Antonio Aguayo, 22, from California, allegedly shared messages where he claimed that pipe bombs had been planted at the theme park on the day that Vance was at the resort with his family.

Aguayo was charged on Wednesday (January 14) after being taken into custody on Friday afternoon.

He now faces the single charge of threats against the President and successors to the Presidency. If convicted, he could face up to 5 years in federal prison.

Vance and his family had been staying at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim in July 2025 when the alleged messages were posted.

According to the Los Angeles Times, news of Vance’s visit to the theme park quickly spread on social media after Air Force 2 was spotted landing at John Wayne Airport on July 12.

An arrest affidavit explains that Aguayo had shared comments on The Walt Disney Company’s Instagram page, allegedly writing: “Pipe bombs have been placed in preparation for J.D. Vance’s arrival.”

Before adding moments later: “It’s time for us to rise up and you will be a witness to it.”

Prosecutors claim that the messages then ended with one that was described as ‘overtly violent’ in its nature.

“Good luck finding all of them on time there will be bloodshed tonight and we will bathe in the blood of corrupt politicians,” he allegedly added.

After law enforcement tracked down Aguayo later that day, he was reportedly questioned at his apartment, where he initially denied writing the messages and suggested his social media account may have been hacked.

However, he later admitted to writing the posts on the page, investigators say, explaining he told law enforcement that he ‘intended it merely as a joke to provoke attention and laughter’.

“We will not tolerate criminal threats against public officials,” said Bill Essayli, the First Assistant US Attorney for the Central District of California.

“We are grateful the Vice President and his family remained safe during their visit. Let this case be a warning to anyone who thinks they can make anonymous online threats. We will find you and bring you to justice.”

“This case is a horrific reminder of the dangers public officials face from deranged criminals who would do them harm,” said Attorney General Pamela Bondi.

“I am grateful that my friend Vice President Vance and his family are safe, applaud the police work that led to the arrest, and will ensure my prosecutors deliver swift justice.”

According to the United States Attorney’s Office, the US Secret Service is conducting an investigation alongside the FBI and Anaheim Police Department.

JD Vance has spoken out after a man was arrested for ‘hammering’ his Ohio home this morning (January 5).

The suspect was physically detained by US Secret Service officers just after midnight and has since been taken into custody by the Cincinnati Police Department, the agency said, via Fox News.

The individual, since identified as 26-year-old William DeFoore, has been charged with one count of obstructing official business, one count of criminal damaging or endangering and one count of criminal trespass and one count of vandalism, Fox News reports.

He is believed to have caused property damage, including breaking windows on the exterior of a home, a Secret Service spokesperson, Anthony Guglielmi, said.

Police said that the family weren’t in the property, nor in Ohio, at the time of the incident.

A law enforcement official told CNN that they did not gain access to or enter the home, and that authorities were investigating whether the suspect was targeting Vance or his family.

Now, the Vice President himself has addressed the situation and given his thanks to the emergency services.

Taking to X, Vance said: “I appreciate everyone’s well wishes about the attack at our home. As far as I can tell, a crazy person tried to break in by hammering the windows. I’m grateful to the Secret Service and the Cincinnati police for responding quickly.”

He added that his family wasn’t home at the time and ‘had returned already to DC‘.

The 41-year-old concluded with ‘one request to the media,’ writing: “We try to protect our kids as much as possible from the realities of this life of public service.

“In that light, I am skeptical of the news value of plastering images of our home with holes in the windows.”

Vance had been in Cincinnati as recently as last weekend, however, Fox News added.

The Secret Service is coordinating with the Cincinnati Police Department and the US Attorney’s Office as prosecutors to review potential charges.

A spokesperson for the Vice President previously said Vance returned to Cincinnati after the operation in Venezuela to take President Nicolás Maduro into custody concluded on Saturday.

It comes as tensions between Washington and Caracas continue to escalate following the US’s shock intervention in Venezuela, which saw Maduro removed and Delcy Rodríguez installed as acting president.

Despite Donald Trump claiming the country has been brought under US control, Rodríguez has openly rejected American demands and framed the intervention as a violation of international law, raising fears of a prolonged standoff over Venezuela’s oil resources.

Trump told The Atlantic that Rodríguez could pay ‘a very big price’ if she does not ‘do what’s right’ and cooperate with his demands to hand over Venezuela’s nationalized oil industry to American business interests, after they were expropriated over 20 years ago.

But there appears to be little sign from Rodríguez of bending the knee, with the 56-year-old socialist demanding the return of Maduro, who she still views as the country’s ‘only’ leader.Featured Image Credit: Tom Brenner-Pool/Getty Images
