WASHINGTON — A now-viral video with over 7 million views that captured a heated altercation at a Northeast, D.C. Chipotle is sparking outrage online. The video shows a visibly upset customer walked behind the counter and began making her own burrito bowl. The incident escalated further when she got physical with an employee. But the woman in the video said employees got physical with her first.

Roberto Hernandez, the Chipotle employee in the video, says the encounter left him shaken and traumatized, calling the video “triggering” to watch. Speaking to WUSA9, Hernandez described how the situation unfolded on Saturday during his shift at the Brentwood neighborhood Chipotle on Washington Place.

Hernandez said he he was working his normal shift when a customer walked in and said she had ordered a burrito bowl on UberEats. She claimed her order was wrong and demanded a refund. He and his manager tried to explain that all refunds had to be issued by Uber. That’s when Hernandez told WUSA9 things escalated.

The woman proceeded to walk behind the counter and make herself several bowls, saying she wanted the order remade with double meat and other items. Hernandez said he looked at the receipt and it didn’t say she had ordered double of anything.

“I was mad, upset. But I’m a man you know I can’t hit a female,” Hernandez said. “So I walked away.”

The woman in the video told WUSA9 that she went behind the counter to remake her order when employees refused to remake her bowl or give her a refund. That’s when she says employees hit her. She claims the viral video didn’t capture the full incident.

“Before I threw the bowl on him or anything, all of them put their hands on me first,” she told WUSA9. ” … I wasn’t aggressive toward them until I got assaulted. The video was cut short.”

Hernandez told WUSA9 he’s been a loyal employee for over two years, but said he’s upset that he has yet to hear from corporate. He added that he’d like to see security inside the store.

The employee also said the woman who attacked him has been threatening him online since the incident.

“Yesterday, she was saying ‘I’m going to come back and stab them and take their life,'” Hernandez relayed. “I was scared. She was scaring my co-workers too.”

In a statement to WUSA9, Chipotle said:

“At Chipotle, the health and safety of our employees is our greatest priority. We are grateful for their hard work every day and do not condone guests who mistreat our team members. We are working cooperatively with local law enforcement and hope justice will be served for the individual who did not treat our employees with the respect that they deserve.”

DC police said no police report has been filed. A spokesperson for Chipotle told  WUSA9 they are planning on filing a police report. WUSA9 also reached out to UberEats for comment, but has not heard back.

(WUSA) – A Chipotle customer was caught on video attacking an employee over the weekend.

The employee says the woman claimed her order was wrong and demanded a refund.

But they say when they told her that Uber Eats had to issue that refund, she got upset, walked behind the counter and started making her own burrito bowl. And the incident only escalated from there.

The employee Roberto Hernandez says watching the video is triggering and traumatizing.

On Saturday, he was working his normal shift at Chipotle in Washington D.C.’s Brentwood neighborhood when a customer attacked him.

It was caught on video, which has since gone viral with over 7 million views.

“I was mad, upset, but to me, you know, I’m a man, I can’t … I can’t hit a female, so I walked away,” Hernandez said.

Hernandez says the woman ordered a burrito bowl on Uber Eats but returned it and demanded a refund, saying her order was wrong.

Hernandez and his manager explained refunds are issued by Uber Eats.

Hernandez says that’s when things escalated and the woman proceeded to walk behind the counter and make herself several bowls with extra meat.

“She was like, ‘I want to remake the whole thing, I want tomatoes, double meat and everything.’ And I looked at the receipt and I was saying it was not double meat, no tomato, nothing all that,” Hernandez said.

Hernandez says he’s a loyal employee who’s worked at this location for over two years. He has yet to hear from corporate, but he’d like to see security inside the store.

He now says the woman is threatening him online.

“Yesterday, she was saying, ‘I’m going to come back and stab them’ and all that. I was scared. She was scaring my coworkers and all that too,” Hernandez said.

In a statement to WUSA, Chipotle said in part, “We do not condone guests who mistreat our team members. We are working cooperatively with local law enforcement and hope justice will be served.”

Meanwhile, Hernandez has a message for the customer. “I hope that food was good,” he said.

The woman accused of attacking that employee later said the employees assaulted her first.

A spokesperson for Chipotle said they plan to file a police report.

An outraged Chipotle customer violently attacked an employee behind the counter after she claimed they messed up her order — then allegedly threatened to come back and “stab” the workers.

Footage posted to X captured the woman carrying an empty bowl as she pushed workers aside behind the counter at the fast-casual restaurant in Brentwood, Washington, DC, on Saturday.

The disgruntled customer briefly shakes them off and piles food into the bowl.

The altercation escalated when employee Roberto Hernandez tried to snag the mountain of food from her hand.

Hernandez reaches to grab the bowl from her, but she slightly pulls it away and slaps him in the face, causing food to fly up around the workstation.

Hernandez said he was left shaken after belligerently being assaulted at his job — and that the video, which has been viewed at least eight million times — is “triggering” for him to watch.

Hernandez told WUSA9 that the enraged customer was upset that her Uber Eats order was wrong. Her burrito bowl didn’t have double the meat she claimed she ordered, and she wanted a refund, according to the employee.

However, Hernandez said that he and his manager tried telling her they couldn’t give her a refund and she would need to contact Uber if she wanted her money back.

Hernandez also told the outlet he had checked the receipt for the order, which showed she had not ordered double meat.

As she continued to get upset about the situation, the Chipotle worker said she went behind the counter, took matters into her own hands, and started dishing out a new order.

Hernandez said he was attacked when he tried to stop the suspect.

“I was mad, upset. But I’m a man you know I can’t hit a female,” Hernandez said. “So I walked away.”

The violent customer then allegedly went online and threatened the staff after the attack.

“Yesterday, she was saying, ‘I’m going to come back and stab them and take their life,’” he told the outlet.

“I was scared. She was scaring my co-workers too.”

The unidentified customer also spoke with WUSA9, claiming the employees refused to make her a new bowl or refund her.

She claims that the workers put their hands on her first and that she only “threw” the bowl at the worker.

“I wasn’t aggressive toward them until I got assaulted. The video was cut short,” she told the outlet.

Chipotle filed a police report over the alleged assault while the woman intends to sue the fast-food chain.

Upset customers have attacked workers at the fast-casual restaurant in the past.

Last December, a Chipotle worker in North Carolina was held down and viciously beaten by two unruly customers who were informed that they would be charged extra for chicken.

That same month, two women at a Maryland Chipotle threw food and a chair at a worker while cleaning.

Costco Brings Back Crave-Worthy Fried Item That Will Make Dinner a Breeze

We’ve all found ourselves wondering “what’s for dinner” and feeling stuck without any ideas in mind.

Costco is here to change all of that, bringing back a prepared food item that has fans rejoicing and celebrating the return.

The crispy, juicy fried chicken thighs were recently spotted in the chilled deli aisles of the warehouse giant.

Known for their golden-brown coating and tender, flavorful meat, they were previously a go-to pickup for Costco shoppers looking for an easy and fulfilling meal.

The Instagram account Discovering_Costco first shared the return on social media, along with the caption, “Crave worthy fried chicken is back at Costco! Chicken thighs with ranch dressing… it’s what’s for dinner! 🍗”

The prepared and packaged meal has about 2lb of meat and retails for 6.99/lb, totaling about $20 per package.

“Wow wow 🤩” one fan took to the comment section to respond, as another exclaimed, “about time!”

Another Instagram account, Costco Buys, emphasized the ease and convenience that draws shoppers to the item, writing that they are “such an easy grab from the prepared foods section.”

“The chicken is breaded and fried until golden, and it comes with ranch on the side for dipping, which makes this feel extra satisfying,” the post continued, noting that it’s perfect for “a quick dinner or when you want something hot and ready without cooking.”

Costco is seemingly hoping that this time around, the fried chicken thighs will fare better with consumers than they did last year, though there’s already a fair share of critics raising issues, particularly with the cost.

“$15 seems over priced for food you have to reheat,” one wrote in the Instagram comments, as another explained that the taste was “mid……” and a third added, “Cold fried chicken, it looks disgusting.”

“I’ll stick to the rotisserie chicken,” another expressed, as someone called it a “terrible deal” and another suggested it’s “overpriced.”

Still, many fans remember the 2025 launch fondly. A Reddit user called it “the best fried chicken thighs we’ve ever had,” noting that they were “better than any restaurant.”

“We will definitely continue to buy chicken thighs from Costco!” the poster summed up their review.

Many others suggested that Costco should just sell ready-to-go fried chicken at the food court, wondering, “I don’t understand why they don’t sell buckets of fried chicken at the food court. I imagine they could make a killing.”

Another wished, “They just need to add chicken strips and fries to the food court. Ijs yk 😂 and bring back the combo pizza.”

It seems that it’s all up to preference and what your wallet allows, but if you’re in a pinch for a meal idea and don’t want to rely on fast-food chicken places, it may be worth giving it a try.
