Caught Cheating: Wife Learns About Extramarital Affair After Husband’s Death, Recovers ₹25 Crore From The Other Woman

(MENAFN– Live Mint) A wife came to know that her husband had secretly maintained a seven-year affair and transferred almost ₹25 crore to the other woman. The discovery came only after the man’s death. And, it completely changed the woman’s understanding of their marriage.

The incident happened in Shanghai, China. The woman, surnamed Shen, married her husband Jin in July 1999. They had two children, a son and a daughter. The couple remained married for over two decades until Jin passed away in May 2022.Also Read | ‘Never hurt her’: Husband hands over cheating wife to lover, gets cow in return

Shen later found that Jin had been involved with a woman, Tao, since 2015. Over seven years, he had quietly given her more than 19 million yuan. His family had no knowledge of the relationship.

After uncovering the transfers, Shen and her children approached the court. They sought to recover the full amount from Tao through legal action.

During the initial hearings, the court ruled that Jin had no legal right to give away such a large portion of shared marital property without his wife’s consent. It held the gifts invalid. The court directed Tao to return the money.

Since Tao had already sent back 5.4 million yuan ( ₹7 crore), the court ordered her to repay the remaining money to Shen. Also Read | Caught cheating: Wife catches husband, thanks to a toothbrush

Tao challenged the decision and filed an appeal. However, the Shanghai First Intermediate People’s Court dismissed her plea and upheld the original verdict.

According to the judges, the extramarital affair and financial transfers violated Shen’s lawful rights as a spouse. They also ruled that such actions violated accepted public morals and social values.Social media reaction

The judgment triggered strong reactions online. Several people expressed disbelief at the huge sum involved.

“19 million yuan? Most working-class people could not earn that amount even if they started working back in the Qin dynasty (221–206). Yet a man gave it away as proof of love, just like that. This ruling is truly satisfying,” SCMP quoted one of them.

Many users welcomed the ruling, saying it set a clear example. Some felt justice was finally served while others remarked that the decision reinforced social order. Also Read | Viral ‘cheating’ bride says Instagram video was uploaded without her consent

“A ruling like this is what truly upholds public morals and social order. This is great, and the mistress did not get a single thing,” posted one on social media.

Another wrote,“Finally. Let all mistresses end up with nothing: no man, no money.”

“The cheater died and the money came back. Perfect,” came from another.Adultery in India

In India, adultery is no longer treated as a criminal offence. But, it still has legal consequences in civil matters like marriage disputes. In 2018, the Supreme Court struck down the old colonial law that made adultery a crime.

Although it is decriminalised, adultery is still considered morally wrong in Indian society. It is a valid ground for divorce or judicial separation under most personal laws.

Hindu, Christian, Parsi and Special Marriage laws clearly allow divorce if a spouse has a relationship outside marriage. Under Muslim law, adultery can be treated as cruelty.

Adultery can also affect maintenance and alimony. A spouse living in adultery may lose the right to maintenance. Courts may reduce or deny alimony after examining conduct.

One exception applies to the Armed Forces, where adultery can still attract disciplinary action. In court, adultery must be proved through strong circumstantial evidence rather than direct proof.

An unfaithful husband, who wanted to see if his ‘girlfriend on the side’ would cheat, has been given an instant dose of karma as he watches her flirt with a hot personal trainer.

Introduced as a bitcoin millionaire, married man Adam is apparently debating whether to leave his wife for his girlfriend, so he decides to organise a sting with YouTube channel To Catch A Cheater, to test her loyalty.

As part of the honey trap, his girlfriend is approached by a personal trainer who instantly begins flirting with her.

The girlfriend, who is a Spanish teacher, avoids answering the question as to whether she has a boyfriend and seems impressed when the trainer speaks Spanish as well.

“I’m a personal tutor, so I do that sometimes on the side,” she tells him.

They quickly decide to trade personal training sessions for Spanish tutoring before swapping numbers.

The exchange then becomes even more steamy when he starts showing off his muscles. She tells him she wants to “work on her butt” and “can be a lot of trouble” before they briefly dance and hug in farewell.

Clearly outraged, Adam says he considers it all cheating.

“Who else is she giving her number too?” he says in the clip.

“I’m going to do the honourable thing and stay with my wife.”

The Law of Karma and Wishing Harm on Others

When is it ok to wish ill on someone?

Well, the short answer is: never.

And the long answer is: Really, NEVER.

It’s never ok to wish harm on anyone else. If you do, you’re actually inviting that bad energy back into your life tenfold. Karma doesn’t discriminate in that regard – what you reap, you will (eventually) sow. Always.

Start Healing Your Karma TODAY

I actually know of several “spiritual” teachers who have given clients invocations of harm toward another person. Every time I hear of it – I shudder. (Seriously, yikes!) Thankfully, my first brush with understanding this simple truth came from my Reiki grandfather who taught me a very simple lesson: You never impose your will on anyone else. Ever. To do so is to practice black magic, and it will always rebound onto you. Always.

I learned this within the first week of studying Reiki and beginning to uncover my own gifts, but millennia of history in other traditions teach the same message, most commonly:

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

If you don’t want someone wishing harm on you, don’t wish it on others. It’s really that simple. We only choose to make it more complicated by employing the three most dysfunctional attributes of the mind: justification, generalization, and rationalization.

Perhaps, though, rather than getting mired in the teachings of the past, or the simple truths that echo through their wisdom, it might be more practical today to think of it this way:

You can’t cast a negative net and expect to catch anything positive.

Nothing good comes from sowing or spewing venom or toxicity in the world. Even though it might “feel” good in the moment, it will ultimately cause more problems in the long run. Of course, the long run could be your next lifetime, but that still doesn’t make it right.

In this age of instant gratification and guarded consequences, it’s increasingly more important for us to remember the simple truths and the wisdom of the ages. They’ve lasted as long as they have because they’re as pure as it gets. Time can’t tarnish them.

As for what to do when you feel wronged by someone? It’s 100% natural to vent, cry, get angry and experience all of the emotions running through your body… stopping just short of desiring harm on the other party. Not only will you be properly managing your karma, you’ll also actually feel better for not having created more toxicity in the situation. That’s a win-win if ever there was one.

Or, as another great teacher once taught: turn the other cheek. Which can either translate as 1) allow yourself to be hit again, or 2) (as I prefer) turn and walk away, removing yourself from the drama of the other person, and staying true to who you are.

There’s no shame in disengaging. The only real loss is when you choose to engage in something destructive and negative from a place of hurt or fear, because it perpetuates the cycle of harm – a cycle you’re standing squarely in the middle of. Yikes!
